Blue Rhine Industries (BRI) has won the contract to install and commission the Exosphere LED display on the exterior of Sphere Abu Dhabi, the entertainment venue under construction on Yas Island. The deal matters for anyone tracking large-format LED work because it puts a regional integrator at the center of one of the biggest architectural display projects announced for the Middle East.
ALEC Engineering and Contracting selected the UAE-based AV integrator for the job. The Exosphere installation sits inside the venue's US$1.7 billion main construction contract, with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi leading the development. Sphere Abu Dhabi, a 20,000-capacity venue, is scheduled for completion in 2029 and will be the first Sphere location outside the United States, following the original venue's 2023 opening in Las Vegas.
The Exosphere will wrap the exterior of the 112-meter-high building, creating a programmable LED surface intended for digital art, entertainment content and other visual material. According to the announcement, the installation will be visible from multiple points across Abu Dhabi and is expected to include content from Emirati artists. The release does not say what LED pixel pitch, resolution, or total display area the Exosphere will use, nor does it name the LED hardware manufacturer, so key technical specs remain unknown at this stage.
BRI will handle installation and commissioning of the exterior screens. The company calls this the largest project scope in its 20-year history, a claim worth noting given the firm's existing portfolio. That portfolio includes a 440-meter curved digital screen at Dubai Fountain installed during 2025 renovation work, a 70-meter by 14-meter LED display at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo in Dubai Mall, and AV and digital signage systems for Zayed International Airport.
John V. Joseph, CEO of Blue Rhine Industries, said in a statement that projects of this scale demand specialist AV knowledge and the ability to integrate complex technology within equally complex built environments.
For integrators and manufacturers watching the Middle East market, the contract is another sign that entertainment destinations and architectural displays in the region continue to generate large-scale LED work. The original Las Vegas Sphere set a benchmark for what an exterior LED wrap can do as a branding and content platform, and its scale drove significant attention to the LED supply chain behind it. Whether Sphere Abu Dhabi's Exosphere matches that scale, and which LED vendor ultimately supplies the panels, has not yet been disclosed.
