LG Launches 98-Inch Ultra-Stretch DVLED Display for Public Spaces

LG Electronics has introduced a 98-inch all-in-one direct view LED display built around an ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio, aimed at large-format digital signage in airports, transit hubs, retail and other public venues. The LUPA098 is the first model in a new LUPA Series the company plans to build out for public-space signage.
For operators, the pitch is less about resolution or brightness and more about form factor and install complexity. LG says the display is designed as an all-in-one unit, meaning the LED cabinet, control electronics and integrated audio arrive as a single package rather than a stack of components that installers have to source and wire separately. The company describes this as simplifying deployment for large-format DVLED, which has traditionally required more planning and labor than an LCD panel or a standard commercial display.
The ultra-wide format itself is not new to the industry. Wide-aspect displays have been used for years in transit signage, wayfinding and branding walls where a tall, narrow, or letterbox-style canvas fits the physical space better than a standard 16:9 screen. LG's move puts it in that same category, arguing that the 32:9 shape gives designers more horizontal room for messaging and layout in environments where a conventional display would feel cramped or where the venue's architecture calls for a stretched canvas.
Michael Kosla, senior vice president of LG's B2B division in the US, said in the company's release that the Ultra Stretch AIO display was built to make large-format DVLED deployment easier without cutting into visual impact, and that the wide format is meant to give organizations a distinctive canvas in demanding public environments.
What the announcement leaves out
The release does not include resolution, brightness, pixel pitch, power draw or price, all of which matter for anyone actually specifying a display for a lobby, terminal or storefront. It also does not say when the LUPA098 will be available or in which markets, and it does not detail what other sizes or formats will follow in the LUPA Series beyond calling this the first model.
For signage operators and integrators evaluating DVLED for a public-space project, the headline claim worth testing on-site is the installation simplification. All-in-one DVLED units generally trade some of the flexibility of modular systems for faster setup, and buyers will want pixel pitch and viewing-distance specs before deciding whether an ultra-wide format solves a real layout problem or just adds a new shape to choose from.
