Westfield Forum des Halles in central Paris has replaced the LED display at Place Carrée, a high-traffic gathering point where shoppers and commuters pass between the Métro and RER networks. The old screen is out, a larger and higher-resolution Infiled display is in, and the project offers a useful case study in what it takes to swap large-format LED in a live retail environment without shutting the space down.

The shopping center says it draws more than 64 million visitors a year and houses over 150 stores along with what it describes as the world's most-visited cinema. That kind of foot traffic makes Place Carrée a prime advertising location, and it also explains why the installation had to happen entirely outside operating hours.

French AV consultancy Scenarchie wrote the technical spec before Westfield ran a competitive tender. Systems integrator BTB Audiovisuel won the contract and paired with Infiled to deliver it. Crews had only a 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. window each night and spent eight evenings removing the old screen, running new power and fiber cabling, integrating the control system, and modifying the mounting structure to fit the new panel.

What went in

The new display measures 8.4 by 4.7 meters, or about 27.6 by 15.4 feet, with a 2.5mm pixel pitch and native resolution of 3,360 by 1,890 pixels. That is a step up in both size and resolution from what was there before, though the release does not specify the exact dimensions or pixel pitch of the display it replaced.

BTB Audiovisuel chose Infiled's WP Series LED platform, citing image quality and a slim cabinet design that let the larger screen fit into the existing architectural opening without adding visible bulk. The companies say the cabinet profile was a deciding factor given the constraints of the space. Jean-Pierre Leandre, head of AV at BTB Audiovisuel, said a screen of this size at a 2.5mm pitch demands precise installation, and credited the integration team and Infiled for the quality of the work.

Why it matters for operators

For anyone managing large-format LED in retail or transit environments, this project is a reminder that the hardware is often the easier part. Aligning cabinets across an 8-plus-meter span for viewers approaching from multiple angles, all within overnight maintenance windows, is where integrators earn their fee. The announcement does not disclose project cost, content management software, or brightness specifications for the new display, so it is not clear what runs on the screen or how it compares on those fronts to competing large-format LED products in the same venue category.

Westfield Forum des Halles has upgraded a prominent digital display inside its shopping and transit complex in central Paris, replacing an existing LED screen with a larger, higher-resolution display from Infiled.

The shopping center, which attracts more than 64 million visitors annually, is home to over 150 stores, cultural venues, and what is described as the world’s most-visited cinema. The new display is located in Place Carrée, a central gathering point where shoppers and commuters traveling between the Paris Métro and RER rail networks pass through each day.

French audiovisual consulting firm Scenarchie developed the technical requirements for the project before Westfield launched a competitive tender. Systems integrator BTB Audiovisuel partnered with Infiled to secure the contract.

The installation had logistical challenges because work could only be carried out between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., after the center closed each night. Over eight evenings, crews removed the existing display, installed new power and fiber cabling, integrated the control system and modified the mounting structure for the replacement screen.

The new LED display measures 8.4 by 4.7 meters (27.6 by 15.4 feet) and features a 2.5 mm pixel pitch with a native resolution of 3,360 × 1,890 pixels. Positioned at the heart of Place Carrée, the installation required precise cabinet alignment to maintain a seamless image for shoppers approaching from multiple directions.

BTB Audiovisuel selected Infiled’s WP Series LED platform for its image quality and slim cabinet design, allowing the larger display to fit within the existing architectural space while delivering the brightness needed for retail advertising.

According to the companies, the WP Series’ slim cabinet design allowed the larger display to fit within the existing architectural space without creating a bulky appearance.

“A screen of this size with a 2.5 mm pixel pitch requires flawless installation quality, and I was genuinely impressed by the level of care taken in the integration, as well as the overall quality of work by our team and our partner, INFiLED,” said Jean-Pierre Leandre, head of AV at BTB Audiovisuel.
