Samsung Electronics America used the Governors Ball Music Festival in Queens, New York, as a showcase for its display lineup, putting Color E-Paper screens and its glasses-free 3D Spatial Signage into a festival lounge setting rather than the usual retail or QSR environment. The deployment, detailed in a Samsung press release, is worth noting for operators who work festivals, stadiums, or other temporary venues where power, weather and crowd handling matter as much as picture quality.

Inside the festival's Empire Lounge Speakeasy, Samsung installed 32-inch and 13-inch Color E-Paper displays that attendees used to browse merchandise and food and beverage options. E-Paper panels draw far less power than standard LCD or LED signage and hold a static image without continuous refresh, which makes them a logical fit for temporary installs where power runs are limited or expensive to bring in. The release does not say how these units were powered on site, whether battery, solar or mains, which would be the practical detail most relevant to another festival operator considering the same setup.

The centerpiece was an 85-inch Spatial Signage display showing festival merchandise in glasses-free 3D. Autostereoscopic displays like this have been positioned by several manufacturers as a way to create standout visual moments without asking viewers to wear headsets or glasses, and Samsung has been building out this category alongside its other commercial display lines. The release does not give resolution, viewing angle range, or brightness specs for the unit, so it is not clear how it would perform in daylight or in a fully open-air setting versus the lounge environment described here.

Jonathan del Rosario of Samsung Electronics America framed the deployment as part of a broader push to extend event technology beyond the stage into concession stands and premium lounges, according to the release. Alex Joffe, head of partnerships for Governors Ball, credited the displays with making the Empire Lounge experience more dynamic, also per the release.

What is missing from the announcement is any indication of content management, network setup, or whether this was a one-off activation or the start of an ongoing partnership between Samsung and Governors Ball or its parent festival organizer. There is also no pricing or availability information for either the Color E-Paper line or the Spatial Signage unit as deployed. For signage buyers, this reads less as a product launch than as a marketing case study aimed at event venues and festival organizers who might consider similar premium-lounge installations, with the technical and commercial details left for a direct conversation with Samsung.
