Unilumin has launched the UsurfaceX Series, an outdoor LED display built around reducing the power draw of screens that run for years at a time. For operators budgeting large-format outdoor projects, the pitch is lower operating expenditure without giving up brightness.

The series uses what Unilumin calls its DVPS energy-saving design, which controls working voltage directly rather than relying on a fixed 4.5V power supply, the conventional approach in outdoor LED. Combined with a low-voltage power architecture, low-voltage-drop ICs and a high-efficiency PFC, Unilumin says the design achieves up to 60% overall power savings and can cut operating expenditure by as much as 50%. The company gives a rated average power consumption of 135W/m², a figure that matters most on screens running many hours a day where electricity cost adds up over the display's lifespan.

Brightness tops out at 10,000 nit, with the P10 10,000-nit configuration reaching a claimed contrast ratio of 40,000:1, according to Unilumin. Refresh rate runs between 7,680Hz and 15,360Hz, which the company says helps produce flicker-free images and reduces moiré when the screen is filmed, a relevant point for advertisers whose out-of-home creative ends up recorded for social media. Even at 3% brightness the display reportedly holds a 3,840Hz refresh rate, aimed at stable night-time viewing with less glare. Unilumin also cites 14-16 bit grayscale and a 160-degree horizontal viewing angle for colour and detail.

Servicing and durability

The series supports multiple cabinet sizes, right-angle splicing and curved-corner configurations, which Unilumin positions as extending the product beyond roadside advertising into architectural installations. Full front and rear access is supported, and six stainless-steel locking knobs are said to allow module removal in 10 seconds, a detail aimed squarely at installation and maintenance crews who need to minimise downtime on live sites.

The display carries IP66 and IP69K ratings for protection against dust and heavy water exposure, standard requirements for anything mounted outdoors long-term. Unilumin also claims its thermal architecture can lower internal temperature by up to 8°C, which it says helps manage heat build-up during extended operation, a factor that affects both LED lifespan and long-term brightness consistency.

The announcement does not give pricing, availability dates or specific markets where the UsurfaceX will ship first. It also does not detail pixel pitch options beyond the P10 configuration mentioned for the 10,000-nit contrast figure, so buyers comparing this against other outdoor LED lines will need to seek out fuller spec sheets before costing a project.

The UsurfaceX Series combines substantial energy savings with high brightness, flexible servicing and outdoor protection, cutting total cost of ownership while meeting sustainability expectations.

Unilumin has launched a display developed around the challenge of how to efficiently deliver brightness over years of continuous operation.

Designed under the concept ‘Half the Draw, All the Awe’, the UsurfaceX Series features Unilumin’s DVPS energy-saving design, which precisely controls working voltage instead of relying on a conventional fixed 4.5V power supply.

The UsurfaceX’s extra-low-voltage power supply architecture, low-voltage-drop ICs and high-efficiency PFC achieve up to 60% overall power savings, and can reduce operating expenditure by as much as 50%, according to Unilumin.

Its rated average power consumption is 135W/m², providing a clear and measurable advantage for large-format outdoor projects where screens may operate for many hours every day.

The series provides brightness of up to 10,000 nit, while the P10 10,000-nit configuration can achieve contrast of up to 40,000:1.

The UsurfaceX also supports a refresh rate of between 7,680–15,360Hz refresh rate, helping produce smooth, flicker-free images while reducing moiré when screens are filmed.

Even at just 3% brightness, the display maintains a 3,840Hz refresh rate, supporting stable night-time viewing while helping to reduce glare.

The display’s 14-16 bit grayscale and a 160° horizontal viewing angle also help deliver vivid colours, fine image detail and consistent visual quality.

Range of uses Multiple cabinet sizes, right-angle splicing and curved-corner configurations extend the platform’s use beyond conventional roadside advertising to architectural installations.

Full front and rear serviceability offer installation and maintenance teams greater flexibility when configuring a project, while the six stainless-steel locking knobs allow modules to be removed in 10 seconds.

The UsurfaceX’s architecture is supported by IP66 and IP69K protection against demanding outdoor conditions.

The display’s thermal architecture can reduce its internal temperature by up to 8°C, helping manage the heat generated during extended operation.
